Gearbox Design

When comparing our gearbox design to the competition’s, which are both sourced from the same supplier, be careful what other grain cart manufacturer’s state in their specifications. Competitive carts use a self-defined, self-serving “static”-rated horsepower measurement, which is not used given typical industry standards.

A “static” rating is a measurement on the gearbox when the shafts are not rotating. These competitive carts claim to have a rating of 330 HP when tested at a “static” rating. This type of rating has not been measured by the original gearbox manufacturer, but is a way for competitive grain cart manufacturers to make their gearbox appear three times stronger. Our gearboxes have heavy-duty input and output shaft and a dynamic rating (industry standard measurement) up to 200 HP. A dynamic rating is measured when the shaft are actually rotating. Our gearbox manufacturer (the same as our competitor gearbox supplier) publishes dynamic ratings, not “static” ratings and were not sure what they meant by the rating. “Static” ratings are a way of manufacturing specifications so our competitor’s salesmen can compete.

We don’t use smoke and mirrors to sell our products. We concentrate on manufacturing superior products that stand up to your most rigorous demands…not self-serving statistics!
